A bit sensationalist, but I would say this article is very indicative of the building resentment in the western world. More than a few Americans are channeling their resentment towards Mr. Trump, but he is not going to deliver on their aspirations. Maybe it might be a good thing if he does get elected in 2020. That way they will know for sure.
While this article does “attack” the ultra-rich, I think the lower-upper class has a big role to play in this mess. The best Medium article I’ve come across is The New American Aristocracy from The Atlantic.
So what should we do about this? We could continue to write and read Medium articles on this topic. Maybe take a Saturday afternoon off and join a protest. For sure, vote for the lesser of the two evils on election day, knowing full well that the names on the ballot most likely belong to that New American Aristocracy — because most of us cannot afford to participate in politics.
On how about build a brand new way of doing democracy? I suggest you read Tiered Democratic Governance.
If we don’t make this kind of change, your grandchildren will be writing similar articles 20 or 30 years from now.
A few days ago, The Atlantic put up an article about undersea mining. It seems the mining companies are going to get a blank check on mining whatever, whenever, wherever, and however they want. To me, this is a sign of how broken our system of governance is.
