A couple of decades ago, one of my friends went survivalist. He bought an acreage in the woods, about an hour's drive drive of Edmonton. He built a cabin and stocked it for Armageddon.

I told him he was wasting his time. He might live six months longer than the average city dweller. The biggest skill survivalists will need is the ability to group together in bands of 50 and do bad things to other people not in the band. His cabin in the woods would be valuable target of acquisition for a band of 50 that was not going to include him and his wife.

I signed on to MPP in September, thinking my refusal might be the reason why I wasn't getting much traction. As expected, I'm kind of addicted to looking at my stats each day--a definite time waster. I get about $10 to $20 a month, whether I write 30 articles a month or just three. My many comments are what brings me whatever traction I get.

After three years and 250 articles, I have yet to get anything viral. I have got a few "distributed" articles. They do a little better than my "non-distributed" articles, but nothing to jump for joy when I check my daily stats.

I don't link my articles to my social media accounts. Maybe that's the reason. If I did, I doubt any of my "friends" would come to Medium. It's better my social circle not know I am still working on my alternative democracy.

I still need to be caste as a writer to Misogyny Central.
