A decade or two ago, a Canadian musical group (BNL) tried to erase the ecological footprint of its concerts by planting new trees in all the cities it gave concerts too. I could only think that such a move would only sequester the CO2 for a century. In the meantime, the musical group was using jets and big trucks to move from city to city.

And I kind doubt BNL took into consideration all the ecological costs of its fans travelling to get to their concerts.

Anyways, we are in agreement that this is an ineffective solution. It may ease a guilty conscious or two, but CO2 impacts are negligible.

Nuclear is better (which was suggested in your tree article). I do not understand why there is so much public pressure to not bury the waste deep underground. We have many abandoned mines for that purpose. Any radiation that does leak out will be very dilute.

Sometimes the environmentalists are their own worst enemy.
