A few days back, I read an article from THE ATLANTIC about some of the likely pitfalls of undersea mining. And it seems the mining companies are going to be given a blank check to mine whatever, whenever, wherever, and however they want.
In my understanding of history, western democracy matured about 1850. It seems strange that we will not consider a new model of governance — when, in nearly all other fields of human endeavor like chemistry and psychology, we have replaced old models with better modules.
