A few of my critics have kind of said the same thing. If we only had the right values, then the system won't matter. For example, dealing with climate change properly could be done within the confines of modern democracy, a monarchy, or even a dictatorship. So there is no point in trying to change the system.
But the trouble is that we get our values from these systems. While some of us may be able to see beyond the noise and rhetoric, many of us will or can not. We either adopt the values the system is proffering or we fear the system and do nothing. So for every person progressing in the right direction, at least three others are regressing. Which means the battle is being lost.
The system is very important in finding the right values.
