A good post Nov-5 summary. Many different angles than the usual band of political writers.

Hint: The USA is far from a full democracy, even before November 5.

For sure, the new administration is going to move the dial closer to the O side of that paradigm. How much further, I will not predict. Americans have strong instinct for freedom and liberty. They will not be cowed as easily as Russians or Chinese. The next administration is going to have lots of problems. They can't put half the nation in jail, including many of their former supporters.

As hopeless it is for the Democrats to wish for former political norms to be established, it is also hopeless to assume that Democrats will somehow get their act together.

It is time to build a new democracy. The kinder, wiser democracy we so yearn for.
