A neighbor accused me of causing a fender-bender of her parked car. She called the police on me.
The officer used techniques on me to make me believe that either 1) I actually caused the accident and somehow did not realize it or 2) he was going to find the evidence to prove that I caused the accident. It would be better for me to settle with the neighbor than to escalate the investigation. I settled.
But a week after, I realized how I had been manipulated into paying for damage I did not cause.
While this technique may be useful in holding some people accountable, it can also capture innocent people.
