I have heard that many NGOs are not that effective for various reasons. Yet they somehow manage to find funders.
I attended a talk from the director of an NGO in Lethbridge, Alberta. This NGO specializes in services for the disabled, and has been active for 30 years.
The director said he started this group because the formal organization was not doing a good job, just taking the money. He just took a couple of clients on his own volition. People noticed, and funders moved in his direction. In three years, his "competitor" had to shut down.
