A trouble with secession is that there really isn't any red or blue states. In any state, at least 30% of the population belongs to the minority side. If secession happens, should that 30% migrate to a region that is more politically attuned to their aspirations?

Andrew Tanner has been advocating a more amiable breakup of the USA into 6 to 8 regions. One of his better points is that if this breakup occurs, both D and R state legislators would focus on state governance, rather than the circus in Washington. In other words, they can get back solving real problems.

I've been on Medium for 30 months, offering a new kind of democracy. It just might be easier to build this new democracy and keep the USA together, rather than go through some kind of divorce.

Follow my byline if interested.
