About 20-30 years, the American government asked the Canadian government to monitor the border of the American exclave known as The Northwest Angle. It would make things so much easier for the USA to give this land to Canada.

So American boats carrying contraband from the Northwest Angle cannot be easily inspected before they dock in Minnesota. But if the boats are coming from Canada . . . . .

And that is what the Canadian government told the American government. It seems Americans don't like re-drawing borders just as much as everyone else.
