About seven years ago, a TDG fan recommended that I join an internet group called Asgardia. This forum simulated a rather large space station breaking away from Earth's political control. The members of Asgardia were tasked to write a new constitution.

My TDG fan thought I should take a leadership role in this simulation. Having written an alternative democracy, he thought I would do well here and/or get some traction for the TDG. Because of a new baby in our house I declined, but I was able to observe the proceedings. The fan took up the role as a leader.

Almost from the start, this project started blowing up. Too many members (nearly all of the left-wing side of politics) were shouting over each other to get their pet clauses into the document. My fan really tried to get Asgardia members to agree on a bigger picture, but he failed. I don't think I could have done any better. The owner of the website shut the forum down because it was turning quite vile.

Asgardia confirmed my hypothesis that the TDG really can't bring in current political issues in the early stages. The TDG needs to learn how to make collective decisions about its self governance before it can go into these other issues. This is all explained in Chapter 6.

One of the interesting features of building the TDG is that it should only take about 10 hours a month for these early builders. In other words, they can keep most of their regular life intact.

For climate change activists, they can continue their current battle while siphoning a little time for the TDG. But by building the TDG, they will learn the skills for better governance.

My books are available for a free read from my website.
