Admittedly, I have not read this book. Nor am I likely to in the near future. But I've heard many excerpts over the years. This book showed the world what democracy can really accomplish.

Canada's independence is an example. When we separated from Britain in 1867, we inherited the British democracy. But we got the spirit of democracy from the neighbor to the south.

And the neighbor to the south is close to throwing this all away.
