After five years, I'm still a bottom writer.

Here my two cents on some of your comments:
My problem is that I'm not selling things that people want. They may need my things, but they don't want them. 'Tis strange.
I think I get a little boost in traction with Medium pubs. But not enough to "pay" for the extra hassle of dealing with pubs. Most of the time, I either put my article under my own pub or let it fly independently.
BTW, the pub owners should be cut into the Medium royalties. I have suggested an 80/20 split between the writer and pub owner. Then we will see the pubs being more meaningful as a filter for the better articles-------and writers wanting to be in those pubs. And writers had better get used to more rejection.
I stand to earn $200 this year in Medium royalties, which is $150 more than my subscription fee. If this bottom writer can make a "profit," how does Medium pay the light bill?
Get lucky .....................so true. I have a unique topic. I just need one celebrity to endorse it.
Other than that, there is an oversupply of writing talent on Medium. Very few of us are every going to make a living in this craft. This is just basic math, statistics, economics, or history. Take your pick.
