All this is possible. Throw a few-high ranking Democrats in jail hoping that the rest will be cowed into submission. I don't think that plan is going to work out for the R's, but we should not be surprised if they do try.

One thing that January 6, 2021 did prove is that Mr. Trump does have the ability to call up a small army. I believe this "fact" is a big reason for the hesitancy many people seem to be denouncing. It is very difficult to be a decision maker in the back rooms these days.

I wager there have been secret meetings between senior military leaders and the back room operators of both parties. Everyone is positioning themselves. These meetings are where the near-future history of the USA will lie.
