Almost a Medium Skunk
An Insight into the Medium Algorithm
On February 15, I published the article below:
Zero views on the first day.
Zero views on the second day.
Zero views on the third day.
Canadian English uses the word “skunk” as an idiom. In this usage, “skunk” means “a score of zero.”
I was getting skunked with this article. My observations are that an article is removed off the feeds after five or six days. Very few readers come after that. So this article had only three more days of traction. Would it get skunked?
An inspiration was coming to me to write an article about writing a Medium article that got skunked.
On the fourth day, Randy Fredlund took a look. Randy also put in a full read, a clap, and a positive comment. Randy stopped the skunk. I could no longer capitalize on embarrassing Medium for skunking my article.
I decided to write this article anyways.
