Am I out of touch with reality for wanting to go back to the basics when it comes to relationships, love, and perhaps life in general?

There is a natural yearning in most of us for a life partner. We can't get rid of it. Almost as if we need another "very close" person to make ourselves complete.

Or should I let go of those old ways and subscribe to the “sexy” on the internet, risking the potential of losing myself?

I'm not so sure old ways ever worked. Yes, there were a few couples who were true partnerships. But there were many more couples who put up with a lot of crap to stay together.

And no, the conditioning that is popular is not finding us that right partner. Maybe we have the wrong expectations.
