What we really need to reivent is how people in political parties can vote with their conscience on each topics and how to compromise with others to produce progressive solutions.

This isn’t going to happen. I spent six years in a political party as a very active member. I had thought that we were going to talk about economy, environment, and education. But at least 90% of our internal discourse was about elections.

As active members, our only real choice was to follow the party leader — or not.

Trying to reinvent political parties into something else is like trying to convince lions to stop hunting gazelles and zebras and become vegetarians.
