Any UBI should be implemented slowly, let’s say starting at $200 a month. Let the sociologists, psychologists, and economists analyze the trends before increasing it.
Giving $1000 a month to everyone will mean some low-wage workers dropping out of the workforce. If they stay out too long, it becomes harder for them to get back in. And important work for the economy gets undone.
A UBI has other advantages its pundits don’t seem to realize. Maybe I might write an article on these advantages some day.
But this was a good article, taking the point of view of the naysayers. We need to be doing more of this.
