As I was reading this, I was recollecting that Hollywood has been glamorizing the American dream for decades. Most movies are made in settings inhabited by upper middle class or higher.
But the truth is that 80% of us will never have this lifestyle. This must be a contributor to a societal depression.
To keep New York City functional, there are many people (bus drivers, sanitation workers, waiters, etc) who won't be living the dream seen in the Hollywood sets. Hopefully they are not defending their city too vigorously.
