As the article first says, politicians have taken credit for good things that are not within their responsibility for a long time. While it’s not fair to base an entire article on Mr. Trump, we should be asking ourselves why are our politicians behaving in such a shallow manner? And what can be done to get them more focused on creating policies that will have a positive effect 10 or 20 years from now?

Until we replace western democracy with a more future-oriented democracy, we really should not expect this relationship to change.
