As the drama was unfolding, it seemed to me the moderate Republicans could have nominated one of their own--and asked Democrats to support them. For Democrats, a moderate Republican would be better than the current solution.

It seems like a no-brainer to me. . . . . unless the crazy people still have a hold on moderate Republicans.
