At the risk of getting stomped on, I like to mention 1998. That is the year when 45 Democratic Senators, en masse, voted to acquit Bill Clinton on charges many of us would go to jail for.

The message sent was that the Democrat Party will protect its own wolves if those wolves have proven to win elections.

The 2000 election was close. Had Mr. Clinton been sent packing, Al Gore would have been president--and the USA would have had a more reasonable response to 9-11.

Many on the left-wing cannot make this connection. They are part of the problem.
