Back in my political days, I tried to get my party to adopt an RCV system for its internal party elections. I believed such a system would produce a less-emotional result AND would reduce the chance of quick back-room deals.

So much resistance. I had to back off lest I lost whatever influence I had built up for myself in the party.

Today, all Canadian parties use RCV in their internal elections.

There still seems to be some skullduggery in these elections. The usage of mail-in and online votes is sometimes in dispute.

RCV would help American politics a lot. But we need to go even further.
