Beau is definitely an offbeat analyst, worthy of many listens. If he is talking too much about election issues, he is only responding to where his bread is being buttered. And somehow, I can't blame him. He has probably invested a lot of time and practice to get to his organic audience.
Another example is Umair Haque. His political essays have brought him fame and maybe a little fortune. But he also has a series that few of his fans know about. His eudainomics paint an interesting utopia. But Umair seldom writes about this new system. Instead, we get his articles that allow his readers to blame someone else for our tribulations. Umair knows where his bread is being buttered.
I have an article on the drawing boards. I have analyzed two of my building articles over three of my bashing articles. Even though I'm a bottom writer, my bashing does much better than my building. Which says something about the Medium audience.
We don't want builders. Rather, we are addicted to the drama of politics. If this drama was inconsequential, no big deal. But it is not inconsequential. Mr. Trump has entertained many of us for the last 8 years. News media outlets have profited.
And builders are ignored.
