Before The Atlantic left Medium, it had an article about people pretending to be right-wingers and participating in right-wing forums. Their psychological trick was to just appear right-wing enough as not to kicked out, yet provide enough perspective that cause other right-wingers to think.

I would consider this activism more effective in changing hearts and minds than direct confrontation. Maybe there is a way to fund these people.
