Black Mirror asks a lot of good questions. I remember this story quite well.
I find it amazing that in America police dramas, police need a judge’s permission to get a wiretap or a search warrant, but they can access a person’s bank account, credit cards, and cellphone records with no such oversight. This is a sign that our political process is not not able to keep up with the times. I have written about such an instrusion of government into private affairs 20 years ago.
We need a new system of governance to handle these issues with the right balance. Western democracy is failing us.
