Blaming Russia for the 2016 election result is a natural outcome. The Democrats could not fathom that 62m Americans would vote for this fellow (and that's why they did their best to ensure he won the Republican primary).

The Russians and their troll farms were active in 2016. But their work caused maybe a 500,000 vote different (out of 230m voters). And this difference may have given the edge to the other side.

It seems these outside players know how to work the vulnerabilities of our electoral structures. Yet we refuse to address these vulnerabilities.

In Canada, we have a big commission happening with Chinese interference in Canadian elections. So a whole bunch of middle-aged men are earning $500 a day discussing how China interfered (and they did) they won't find a solution because the vulnerabilities are there to do it again.

No one is really addressing the problems.

And no one is talking about how these same nefarious forces could interfere in interfere in internal party elections, getting a preferable outcome for not a lot of effort. Maybe this is already happening.
