Australia has compulsory voting--and usually gets a 90% turnout. But Australia is not exactly a utopia in democracy. In my opinion, if a person cannot invest the minimal time to vote, those votes are probably more damaging than useful.

I would respect the nonvoters in my TDG system as well. But each TDG will design itself: compulsory voting is likely to be tried out. It will either produce good results or it won't.
