Definitely, a different perspective.

There is a whole psychology behind protests and riots. It is just too easy to say that the police have the power to turn things around.

In 1994 and 2011, the city of Vancouver erupted in riots because the Vancouver Canucks lost a hockey game.

In the second riot, the police were well prepared for the disappointed fans. Yet the riot still happened.

At best, the police can only limit damage in these situations. In time, heads do cool off and things became more rational.
