Definitely lots of layers to this story. That's why it is so timeless.

My TDG (alternative democracy) has a self-correcting mechanism for "the pigs." If a TDG representative gets too full of him- or herself, the voters working that person will sense the change. Most of such people will be voted out with the annual elections. The few remaining will not be a sufficient force to take over TDG democracy.
