"Democracy" is an elusive term to find an exact definition. My working definition is when a political party is tossed out of government by an election, and that party willingly hands over power to the victors. Canada fulfills that defination (for now). It is a moot point that the Queen is our head-of-state.

But yes, we need to get rid of some of these institutions from the 19th century.
