Despite the few nitpickers about your math, you have an immense message to deliver.

Circa 1990, I was active in party politics, serving on a local party association. We wanted to find out a few things about our urban area. According to census data of that time, the average household income was $34,000 (Canadian).

I was at about $25,000. But I was single. Life was not bad. I could see that having a child or two with a spouse with a similar income was going to be a financial challenge. Nonetheless, we would still be better than most families around the world.

Later, I was talking to a friend and his wife. He mentioned the struggles of being in the middle class. Butween he and his wife, his household was $100,000. They were not middle class by the standards of those houses with $34,000. This kind of shows how out-of-touch much of the western worild is with their privilege.
