I did eiactly as you suggested--in 1986. I joined a Canadian political party--and became a very active member--to make such changes. Six years later, I left politics realizing full well that party politics is inherently dysfunctional. But somehow I invented another system.
There is absolutely no point in trying to change the system from within. Nor is there much point trying to change from the outside--like "pissing and moaning on Medium."
The building of the TDG will require a new structure completely outside of the current structure. As this new society grows and learns, it will be seen as credible alternative to current ways.
You may still cynical. Here is an essay that logically proves one should build the TDG even if the chances of success are not that high.
