"Due process" has several variations to it.

It can mean the rules the police have to follow before and during an arrest.

It can mean the rules the prosecution has to follow to take a criminal case to trial.

It can mean the rules the two belligerents have to follow to bring their civil disagreement to a trial.

It can mean the rules the governing party has to follow to introduce a bill and turn into a law.

I believe my essay centers around that last definition quite well.
