Even if that's not their preference. Even if they hate wearing heels. Even if doing so is damaging their feet. Even if they see the misogyny in it.
The women in the Canadian cabinet (appointed by Justin Trudeau) have to play this game. Deputy Prime Minister Christina Freeland is one of the more competent politicians I've observed. Yet she too is caught up in this fashion drama. My opinion of her would not diminish if she toned down the fashion, but methinks she would be out of her job soon.
The fact that Ms. Freeland cannot tone down is a sign of how entrenched this misogyny really is in our culture.
