Facebook did not approve of my recent ad campaign.

I am promoting an alternative system of governance. I recently wrote a novel about this system.

I wanted to first promote the novel on Google Ads. I was outright denied, and I understand why: Google does not want to be seen as the entity that won or lost the election in November. Therefore all advertising relating to politics has been banned. I was too small of client to get a reasonable hearing that my ads are really not political.

Facebook was my second choice. It was a little more accepting of political ads, but because I am from outside the USA, it doesn't want to take the chance of outside parties influencing the American election.

BTW, my novel is neither Democrat nor Republican. It is a system that will take 20 years to build. My ads and novel cannot influence the election.

In 2017, both Google ads and FB allowed to use their advertising platform.

I really feel for these companies trying to find that balance between free speech and responsible societal communication. It's so much a case of damned if they do and damned if they don't.
