For me, it's a matter of return on investment. I need at least four hours to put together a reasonable article. Maybe 15 minutes to respond to an article. I get more traction on a response than on an original article.
I've kind of quit Medium several times, but seem to keep coming back. One attraction is that--most of time--dialogue is civil here.
After reading an article, I often read the comments. They are their own form of education. I am surprised at how often I get drawn into an article with the writer's thinking. Thenone of more of the comments will show a different perspective, suggesting the original writer was missing a few many details.
