For me, the pivitol point of American politics was the Virginia gubernatoral election last November. 30% of Virginians voted for a party that is--by its own actions--looking for a one-party rule. This demographic no longer wants a "competitive democracy." I think it's safe to say that 30% of Americans agree as well.
This demographic is politically united and spoiling for fight. It is big enough to effect that one-party rule.
In other words, American democracy has lost its ability to self-correct itself, like it did when it forced Richard Nixon out of office.
For me, the winner of this Senate is not important. What is important is that Mr. Walker will get at least 45% of the popular vote. That 45% is sad--and "is not a sign of a sane society."
We need a system where such people are not contenders for these jobs. It's time for a new way.
