For my last corporate job, I signed a contract for 37 hours a week. The culture was 50 hours a week!
My last employer sometimes asked us for some free labor now and then. We could choose "yes" or "no". I didn't sense any repercussinos if I said "no."
Unfortunately, most CEOs or aspiring CEOs are working 60 to 80 hours a week. They see the extra unpaid hours as a way to find out those who deserve a promotion. They need people under them who can be depended on to do extra work.
Quiet quitters are less likley to get these promotions. And maybe that is OK.
