For Solution #1, the kid likes being with his dad. We are often at the same my computer table, me at my computer with my various internet addictions and he with his chromebook and "number blocks" videos. If I keep him out, he will be at the door howling. Not a good solution.

For #2, it's not the reading. It's the screen. His eyes stray on my computer screen. I could cut you off my Medium friends list so my screen won't show your graphics. But I have so few friends.

It's totally amazing at kids see and don't see.
