For some reason, my wife was addicted to CNN during this time. We didn't watch much else. I was kind of thinking that CNN should present 'the other side" of this bible holding issue. They didn't.

But I did take a quick look at Foxx. They did find one preacher who spun this stunt in a positive way. Not that I believed that spin, but he made it believable to those Christians inclined to support Trump.

I'm under no illusion that many Christians who voted for Trump in 2016 will switch sides in 2020. But the stunt will cause enough of them to not bother voting, which is almost as good as D vote. Maybe 2m R supporters will be staying home on Election day. A D victory is much more likely.

Managing the soft support of one's base and attaching the soft support of the opponent is the key to winning many American elections. Mr. Trump lost some of his soft support.
