For the 66m vs. 63m (or 65m vs 62m), I believe that these numbers show that Mr. Trump was a viable contender for the job of president. Something happened in the week before the election that took a sure victory away from the D’s and turned the contest into a coin flip. The flip went in favor of Mr. Trump. But that is the nature of politics in western democracy: the long shot does win once in a while. It happens often in professional sports.

On another note, if protests are needed to move the decision makers, is that not already a sign that the system is failing us? Why can’t our elected representatives make the right decisions at the right times? Why can’t we the people respect the decisions of our elected representatives? It’s time for a new system.

And yes, I agree with the article. Americans should be ready for a lack of concession. There will likely be some violence as the more radical trumplings show their frustration. This will die down with time, and there won’t be a civil war. But what about the next populist president — who likely will be a little smarter and younger than this president?
