Good points in this article. Canada still has a few too many little capitalists, so we are not a Umair Utopia yet.

Thirty years ago, social assistance was a hot political topic in Canada. Nowadays, it hardly makes the news. This does not mean people have gone off social assistance.

No, our social assistance programs have been modified over the years, more capable of finding those who need to hand up for a short time and those who really can’t hold on to a full-time job. Most Canadians have accepted that some people just won’t be able to support themselves.

Besides putting 10 families on social assistance is still cheaper than sending one person to prison.
