Good Question
I really enjoy being a reader here. I've learned of new things. That is probably half of my time sink. However, without my "ulterior motive," I probably wouldn't be just a Medium reader.
And I should say that has also been some intelligent discussion with many Medium contributors. But again, without the ulterior motive . . . . .
Traction for my TDG idea has been a rather poor investment of my time. When I joined in April 2019, I thought the higher intellect and better writing skills (compared to other internet forums I have been on) would generate a new look at the TDG. But after three months, I kind of figured the Medium result was going to be the same as other internet forums. I should have quit back then . . . .
. . . . but I saw Medium as a place where I could park my work other than my website. Maybe someday I'll get lucky with the right person doing a google search, finding my Medium articles, and then finding my website. I got my "last" article up on Feb 13:
I think you saw this. But two months later, I still can't quit.
IOther thoughts: Unlike other internet forums where contributors have no vision for their work going further than that forum, Medium contributors have a hidden agenda. Here are a few angles I have seen:
1) Earn Medium royalties to the point where the reward is worth the effort.
2) Post on Medium to showcase your work and get a paying writing gig somewhere else.
3) Promote a book. ****guilty as charged*****
4) Promote another news source, with subscription revenues in mind.
BTW, I haven't figured out your angle yet! That may be a good thing!
Just check my stats. The Shock Doctrine Review got 39 reads. It took me about six hours in serveral sittings to prepare this article. It got more than my usual responses and it may have even gained of couple of quasi-fans for the TDG. But no one to help move this idea forward.
