Good question!

I did some quick supplemental research on the yuga concept. The Self-Realization Fellowship is not in the mainstream of Hindu theology. It seems the mainstream believes we are in Kali Yuga--and will remain there for thousands of years more.

So who is right? Kind of hard to prove when our lifespans are so limited.

My understanding of history is that before 1800, most people did not have a lot choice and opportunity in their lives. After 1900, there were more opportunities than before. To me, this is a sign of the transition between Kali Yuga and Dwapara Yuga. Life is better for most of us---compared to 200 years ago.

Having said that, I think we are regressing. The middle class is shrinking in the west. Whether this is temporary or permament is somethnig that will have to play out.
