Canada is already on a quasi-UBI economy, but we just won't call it that.
My family was lower-middle class. We got "entitlements" that amount to about 15% of our gross income. That made a big difference in what this family could provide for our two kids.
A family with a lower income would get more entitlements.
Eventually, Canada should move towards a full UBI system.
Will some people prefer to live with a survival UBI and not work? Probably. But that will made the prospects better for those who do want to work. The whole economy will change with a UBI--for the better.
