Having never written fiction before, I got some free advice from an aspiring novelist. This advice has been echoed in several Medium articles on writing. The novelist has seen the first draft and says the story is working well for what I have to accomplish.

I have had the same editor since 2008. We have developed a great relationship. She has been great at identifying holes in the story that need some rewriting.

“Diary of a Future Politician” is mostly about educating people about the TDG. This education is more palatable than my quasi-academic approach. But it is not a work of art. Character development is there, but not at a high level. Plot is there, but not at a high level.

I like this book to “The Celestine Prophecy”. I read this book when it came out because it was so popular. Even though I knew little about writing at the time, I could see that the plot was contrived and the characters were bland. Yet it became a best seller because it was telling us something educational — in a non-educational way.
