"Hawkers and Turners"?

I had no clue what that meant. Almost as if a tourist coming to visit your village could be thrown in jail for anything.

As for "past" vs. "passed," I still have not got these two terms sorted out in my mind. But there is a little bell that goes off in my head to warn me that I need to put on my analytical cap.
