Hello Aelle. I think this is the second article that I have come across from you. This three-year old article deserved more exposure than it got. It seems to come from a Medium-related issue that somehow got resolved before I joined.

My take is based on that I’m in the lower middle class of the economic stratum. It is very hard for me to justify an online subscription to any online newspaper when I have debts to pay. Those of my stratum won’t be buying many subscription — which then makes reading the news a privilege of the wealthier classes.

I heard of an idea that each citizen gets, say, $50 a year from the government to support media of the citizen’s choice. That money has to go to the media outlet(s). In this way, a more egalitarian media is supported and people from my stratum or lower are not more cash strapped than we are .
