Hello Berna

I will apologize for whatever angst my article might have caused you. An inspiration came to me, and I went with it. When someone says they are going to read my work, they usually don't.

My Umair/Jessica article went viral, my first viral article since I joined Medium in 2019. While the article did not get the tangible results I would have liked, the TDG did become better known.

---------

You are not the first to claim a similarity between the American HOAs and the first tier of the TDG. While I allow each local TDG to design itself (following four salient features), I do not see the future neighborhood representatives as having much "power." Rather they will be conveyances of information and feelings between the citizenry and the decision-making tiers/civil service.

BTW, Canada has many condo associations (apartment blocks and townhouses) and people who buy into these places accept there will be rules.

I haven't heard of any HOA arrangement for detached houses. And I don't think neighborhood control would work well in this housing demographic.

---------------------

Your last response had a few sentences about our inability of differing opinions to get along. We so much need to learn how to build consensus.

The TDG will be the vehicle where we can learn how. The issues in the early TDG are far from "life-and-death", so the early builders can relax when writing their first constitution. Talk all the parts through, listen to others, go with the flow.

We really don't have much of that kind of discussion anymore.
